Labour-rose

For almost one century, Labour has fought many battles which have shaped Irish society for the better.  Brendan Halligan has been passionately involved with the movement since he joined the Irish Labour Party as a young man, and is also a keen Irish Labour historian.  Click here for several of his essays on Labour history.   He became General Secretary of the party in 1967, and during his tenure he served both as a member of the Irish Senate (1973) and as an elected member of the Irish Dáil (parliament) three years later.  Click an image below for a fascinating selection of historical photographs from Brendan’s personal archives.
