In June 2012, Brendan Halligan introduced Professor Hu Angang of the Institute of Contemporary China studies, Tsinghua University, when he visited the IIEA to present a paper, “China and the World by 2030”. A leading consultant to the Chinese Government, prolific author and one of the most influential public intellectuals in China, he discussed his vision of China’s position in the world in 2030, where China is established as an economic superpower, as well as an innovative, high-income, green country with a more equitable society.
