On 19 April, 2016, Brendan Halligan received the highest honour of the French State: L’Ordre National de Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. H.E. Jean-Pierre Thébault, Ambassador of France to Ireland, conferred the medal, representing the President of France, François Hollande, in a ceremony at the French Embassy on Tuesday evening. The event was attended by family, friends, colleagues from the Irish Government and diplomatic circles.
